WHAT WE OFFER
|
The
Independent Galvanizers Cooperative believes that by
working together we can accomplish our goals more
effectively, attain items at a lower cost, and become
more powerful in the industry.
Some of
the services we offer through IGC membership are listed
below.
-
A unified approach
to secure better prices on purchased materials, so
as to be more competitive with larger, multi-plant
galvanizers.
-
Better access to
purchased materials through greater purchasing
strength derived from joint action.
-
A working
relationship with North American Steel Alliance
(NASA) to participate in their "Operational
Programs".
-
Also through NASA,
the ability to review participation with individual
vendors via an individual accounting of tonnage
purchased.
-
Faster reaction to
industry changes due to better information flow from
a larger geographic area.
-
For the future,
joint advertising and marketing programs.
-
Access to better
environmental services.
In order to better understand the IGC, below is a brief rundown of some points, which should clarify any misconceptions:
What the IGC is!
- The IGC is a Purchasing and Shared Services Cooperative.
- The IGC is a Group of Companies.
- IGC members run their businesses Independent of each other.
- Through its system of “Preferred Suppliers”, if not the largest, the IGC is certainly one of the Largest Purchasers of Goods and Services in the galvanizing industry.
- If they exist, Arrangements Between Members Are On An “Arms Length” Basis, solely between the individual members and not under the umbrella of the IGC.
What the IGC is not!
- It is Not A Single Galvanizing Entity.
- As the IGC is not a single galvanizing entity, It Cannot Be Referred To As the “Largest Galvanizer” in the U.S. Discussing accumulated capacity of the group is for purchasing reference only.
- The IGC Does not mandate procurement of any item from a particular supplier or group of suppliers. Although it is to their financial benefit to purchase from “Preferred Suppliers” set up by the IGC, members decide on their own whether or not to do so.
- As the IGC is a Group of Independent Companies (not a single entity) the IGC expects all members to adhere strictly to all applicable anti-trust laws, rules and regulations. Failure to do so may jeopardize membership in the IGC.
